Adding Validation for 9-Digit Zip Code in Appointment Checkout

Publish Date: 6/12/2024

Description

Overview

To ensure accuracy and compliance with postal standards, the system now includes a validation feature for the 9-digit zip code during the appointment checkout process. This validation prevents errors associated with incomplete or incorrect zip codes, particularly when the service location zip code ends with "0000". If an invalid zip code is entered, an error message will be displayed along with a link to the USPS Zip Code Lookup page for correction.

Steps to Validate the 9-Digit Zip Code

  1. Initiate Appointment Checkout

    • Begin the appointment checkout process in the scheduling system.
  2. Enter Service Location Zip Code

    • When prompted, enter the service location's 9-digit zip code.
  3. Validation Process

    • The system will automatically validate the entered zip code. Specifically, it checks the last four digits of the 9-digit zip code.
  4. Error Message Trigger

    • If the last four digits of the zip code are "0000", the system identifies this as an invalid zip code.
  5. Display Error Message

    • An error message will populate on the screen, indicating that the entered zip code is invalid. The message will include a brief description of the error.
  6. Link to USPS Zip Code Lookup

    • Along with the error message, a link to the USPS Zip Code Lookup page will be provided. This link allows you to find the correct zip code for the service location.
  7. Correct the Zip Code

    • Click on the link to access the USPS Zip Code Lookup page. Enter the necessary details to find the correct 9-digit zip code.
  8. Re-enter the Correct Zip Code

    • Return to the appointment checkout process and enter the corrected 9-digit zip code.
  9. Complete the Checkout

    • Once the correct zip code is entered and validated, proceed to complete the appointment checkout process.
